Global Company Data Google Sheets™ plugin

Do you need to look up key information about international companies and all you have is the company name and possibly the country?

Fast Data Science has developed a Google Sheets™ add-on (plugin) called Global Company Data which finds company names in any country and puts company details from national registries and filings and the GLEIF database into a spreadsheet.

To use the add-on, simply select the range of cells that contain the text you want to search, and then click on the add-on icon in the toolbar. The add-on will then scan the selected cells and put the data on any company names it finds in the next columns.

The add-on is very lightweight and easy to use, and it can be a great way to save time in your business when you need to identify company names in a large amount of text.

What data sources does the Global Company Data Google Sheets plugin use?

The plugin pulls data from local and global registries, such as:

  • UK: Companies House
  • Ireland: Companies Registration Office
  • USA: EDGAR/SEC filings
  • Global: GLEIF database

This data is combined in a way that data for companies in a country is pulled exclusively from the official primary source. We don’t scrape the web. This means that all data in the tool is reliable and derived from primary sources.

Model context protocol vs RAG for chatbots

We are all familiar with the general-purpose chatbots like Gemini, GPT, and Claude. Companies and organisations have also been creating internal and external facing special-purpose chatbots, such as those which can book flights, tell you the weather, answer healthcare related queries, or answer questions about government procedures.
