Update to UK Company Details plugin

Fast Data Science are pleased to announce we have updated the UK Company Details Google Sheets™ plugin. The plugin allows you to retrieve details such as company number, incorporation date, address, and directors’ details from Companies House (the UK company registry) and automatically populate them in columns of a Google Sheets™ spreadsheet.

What’s New in the UK Company Details Plugin - update at 20 July 2026

We’ve rolled out a major update to make the plugin faster, more robust, and easier to use. Here is a breakdown of the latest improvements, bug fixes, and the introduction of our new Premium plan.

Tiered plans and large batch support

  • To keep our services sustainable, we have split the plugin into a Free and Premium tier.
  • Smart 50-item limits for free users: The free version now handles batches of up to 50 items per request. If a list exceeds 50, the plugin will seamlessly process the first 50 and gently remind the user to upgrade for larger datasets.
  • Under-the-Hood Request Batching (Premium): To prevent server crashes caused by massive datasets (some users were running 5,000 names at once!), we introduced an automated batching system. For Premium accounts ($4/month), the plugin now automatically breaks lists larger than 50 down into smaller, bite-sized groups of 50 behind the scenes, ensuring the API handles thousands of rows smoothly without overloading.

Workflow enhancements

  • Added “Select All” Option: Tired of clicking every single lookup field one by one? We added a “Select all” toggle in the dropdown menu so you can grab every field in a single click.
  • Smarter Default Columns: The “Names lookup column” now automatically defaults to Column A, saving you a setup step on every new spreadsheet.
  • Bug fixes: some users had reported crashes for large inputs or incorrectly spelled company names. This is now fixed.

Many companies and organisations have large datasets that are stored in a very unstructured format. For example, you could work for a US based healthcare provider or insurer and have patient records stored in a free text format such as HL7 files or PDFs. A building regulator, land registry, or mortgage provider may have texts and accompanying diagrams from thousands of building inspections or land title deeds. A patent attorney’s office may have records of patent applications in PDF format.

On 20 May, I attended the Expert Witness Conference in Dublin, Ireland, organised by La Touche Training. It was an eye opening event with a mixture of lawyers and expert witnesses in different fields from Ireland and abroad. The event was chaired by Mr Justice Michael Peart, with a keynote address by the Honourable Mr Justice David Barniville, President of the High Court of Ireland.
