US Company Data Google Sheets™ Plugin

Do you need to look up official U.S. corporate records, financial filings, and CIK identifiers, but all you have is a list of company names or unstructured text?

Fast Data Science has developed a Google Sheets™ add-on (plugin) called US Company Data. It automatically extracts U.S. company names from text in your spreadsheet and retrieves official corporate details from a data dump from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR database, populating the results into adjacent columns.

How it works

To use the add-on, simply select the range of cells containing the company names or text you want to analyze, and click the US Company Data icon in your toolbar. The add-on scans the selected cells, runs Named Entity Recognition (NER) to isolate company names, and enriches your sheet with SEC EDGAR records.

Extracted Data Fields Include:

• CIK (Central Index Key): The official SEC identifier for the entity.
• Legal Entity Name: Official registered corporate name.
• Ticker Symbol & Primary Exchange: NASDAQ, NYSE, OTC, etc.
• SIC Code & Industry Description: Standard Industrial Classification.
• State/Country of Incorporation: Registered jurisdiction.
• Business Address & Phone Number: Official headquarters contact details.

1. How can I get U.S. company data for free, either as a single lookup or bulk download?

All SEC EDGAR submissions, CIK mappings, and company financial disclosures are public domain and accessible via SEC.gov. The US Company Data plugin brings this data directly into Google Sheets™ so you don’t have to manually write code or run API scripts.

2. Is there a limit to how many companies the plugin can look up?

The free tier of the US Company Data plugin lets you look up up to 20 companies per execution batch. For higher-volume workflows, you can upgrade to the premium version.

3. Does this plugin cover non-public U.S. companies?

The plugin focuses primarily on public companies, foreign private issuers, and entities required to file with the SEC (over 10,000 active entities plus historical registrants).
